What to Expect
In the new format of Dental Alternatives there will be an essay in each issue by my son and business associate, Michael Ham. For more than a year Michael has been mentored by the most respected dental business office systems consultant I have ever known, Mr. Leonard Sharp. Leonard, whose name is known to many of you, began working with Michael as his understudy/intern in the fall of 2005. His primary focus is Business Systems Efficiency including Financial Policies, Financial Arrangements and Scheduling. Additionally we have added a talented and experienced financial consultant to our editorial staff, Mr. Joseph Cleary. Joe was a broker for two of New York’s major brokerage firms for many years, before becoming an independent financial advisor.

Applied Natural Laws in the Dental Profession
Some of the best thinkers in our society, who are "moving and shaking" corporate thought, have introduced natural or spiritual laws in the American workplace without ever using the word spiritual. I am referring here to such influential people as Dr. Steven R. Covey, whose landmark book, The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People is highly respected in board rooms and training departments around the country. And then there are people, such as Dr. Wayne Dyer, Dr. Deepak Chopra and Dr. Carl Hammerschlag who overtly speak of God and applied spirituality in the work place.
My teachings are in the same category... the application of accepted natural laws - which do not impinge on any one's religious beliefs or the absence of such beliefs. Those dentists who are aware of, and embrace the idea of love-based decision-making find my interventions useful. They realize the benefit of replacing the end results of fear-based decision making in their organizations with the much more desirable effects of love-based decision making.
